Manish Baphna. In reply to Radney Dri's post on January 8, My internet is connected and as per speedtest it's 2 MBPS. But whenever I download anything, speed is horrible, like kbps and that too after few mins, downloads get terminated. Restart download doesn't help. Another PC with Ubuntu on same network has very good download speed. What else I can try? Jesebel Ova Microsoft Agent. In reply to Manish Baphna's post on May 20, Hi Manish, There are lots of reasons why internet connection is slowing down.
To have a further view of your issue, we'll need the following information: How are you connected to the internet? Have you tried to connect your PC directly to your modem? Have you removed the network and tried to reconnect to it? We'll be waiting for your response. In reply to Jesebel Ova's post on May 31, Dear Jesebel, the problem only exists on one computer which is the windows computer. Did anyone ever find a solution? My laptop only gets 3. In reply to jeroendekker1's post on June 1, Let us know how it turns out. We have both run download speed tests on speedtest. I have tried turning off both the avast virus protection and windows firewall and re-running the test but get the same results. The laptop has only been turned on for the first time this evening so I would expect everything to be perfect.
Please help. BrettS2 Splendid. Jan 3, 3, 1 24, Hi Compare the speeds of the wireless cards in both lappies All the best Brett. Thanks for your quick reply. My wireless network adapter seems to be a Centrino wireless N and my wife's is listed as an Atheros AR - can't find a b,g or n in the details?
Loopyjasper :. Yes, my wife's laptop is about a year old and mine was bought today. The router is only six months old and is a virgin media superhub VMDG which seems to be quite good. I was wondering if there might be a setting on my laptop or in windows 7 that might be limiting the download speed? Jul 1, 88 0 18, Presume you doing it from same position in house? Sorry if its am obvious question No, sensible question, we are sitting within a metre of each other and we are both about 4 metres from the router in the same room.
Cheers for the advice. Unfortunately the only other friend closeby who has wireless net has a normal speed of about mbps so don't think it will tell me much! Will try calling virgin media tomorrow and hope to get it resolved. Thanks very much for your help Brett. If anyone else has any other ideas or theories then please feel free to share them as I am willing to try anything.

Internet download speed is way slower on my built pc than other devices 2 different download speeds on 2 laptops but same upload speed Slow Download Speed.
I presume that PC 1 and PC 2 are both connected to your router the same way. Yes, switches are generally dumb, but they can act up sometimes. Try connecting your Ethernet cable s to different ports on your switches or router. Does PC 2 have a second Ethernet port you can use? Try that and see what happens. On the software side of things, check to see whether there are any firmware updates you can install on your modem, router, switches or motherboard—to name a few.
Uninstalling them might help. If you happen to have a friend with an Ethernet adapter you can use, see if that improves your speeds at all. Hopefully one of these techniques will solve your tricky issue. Do you have a tech question keeping you up at night?
